I think it's a great idea, but probably most of us would find it simpler just to ask their friends and relatives to help out. On the other side, I could imagine having such a "gift list" opened up for birthdays, Christmas, housewarming and baby's arrival for young families...The biggest downside is that the site caters only for USD transactions and money is deposited in one of the US banks, so in some cases the gift donations can be reduced not only by the service charge but also by the exchange rate
